EEOC Complaint Process

Resources: EEOC website, U.S. Court System website, and EEO 101: The Basic Theories of Employment Discrimination

Search the following key terms: discrimination complaint process, litigation process, mediation process, and dispute resolution.

John identifies as a Hispanic employee in a private sector organization. He is regularly called an “idiot” by his supervisor. The supervisor has hardly ever called non-Hispanic employees derogatory names. Finally, the supervisor starts calling John an inflammatory name that is known to be derogatory to Hispanics. John now finds his work environment intolerable though his supervisor has no intention to demote or fire John for any reason. John, however, wants to file a discrimination complaint against his employer. He went to his HR department first, but was dissatisfied with their lack of help.

Prepare a 700- to 1,050-word paper written in the third person voice in which you analyze and explain the discrimination complaint and civil litigation process as it would potentially apply to John and his employer.

  • What are the elements of a hostile work environment harassment claim?
  • Can John potentially satisfy the elements of a hostile work environment harassment claim?
  • Does his employer have any defense for the supervisor’s conduct?

Identify whether John can make a prima facie case of hostile work environment by identifying the elements required to bring a cause of action for discrimination.

Explain how the complaint process begins with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and proceeds with a right-to-sue letter through the civil litigation process from the state level up to the U. S. Supreme Court.

Include a discussion on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other relevant aspects addressing discrimination complaints and disputes in the workplace.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines, including using headings to appropriately signal topics to keep your document organized.

Use a minimum of three different in-text citation sources within your paper, and properly identify them in your References page. Any laws and legal cases used in the body of your paper must also be included in the References page.

You are to select a multinational corporation – examples include P&G, GE and Lexis-Nexis, which are all local companies within driving distance. Of course, you can also select some other companies to your interest, such as Dow Chemical, McDonalds, Merck, etc. Then you will focus on that company in one overseas country/market. They may or may not already be doing business in that country.

Conduct research by reading their website, their annual report (for international aspects), or other research you can locate. You are to identify your sources of information in the form of a bibliography. The paper should be no more than 15 pages, double spaced. Your grade will be based on content and organization of thought, ideas, and structure.

Some of the course assignments are related to this final paper requirement. Therefore, it is OK to draw from the materials you submitted before – the course is designed this way, so you will not be overwhelmed towards the end of the semester. However, your write-up for this final paper is to be cohesive (rather than simply “copy and paste” from your previous assignments). You are to demonstrate your progress of assimilating and synthesizing information through the semester.

Please incorporate the following in your discussion:

1. Organization and product/service analysis

a. Description of the organization

b. Product or services “needs assessment” of the chosen overseas market/country

c. Description of the company’s products or services to meet the need

2. Global strategy formulation

a. Conduct a business risk analysis (associated with the chosen country)

i. Political

ii. Competitive

iii. Cultural

iv. Economic

v. Legal vi. Technological

vii. Demographical

b. Compare and contrast the advantages/disadvantages of various modes of entry into the global markets

c. SWOT analysis

d. Country selection

i. Market size and growth

ii. Barriers to entry

iii. Previous experience in countries and timing

3. Current event research. With Trump’s presidency, America has entered a new era regarding how to survive, compete and blossom amidst the reality of globalization. Which of Trump’s new policies is going to impact your selected company? How does his protectionism benefit or hurt your selected market/country? Is his policy going to deliver the result that he has promised? Include your latest research and integrate some of your peers’ insights from our Canvas discussions into your paper to make it a more timely report.

4. Your overall evaluation of their strategies. What suggestions might you make to improve the company’s global expansion with new products or services? If you disagree with some of their strategies, please discuss in more detail. Also, incorporate what you would do differently

The topics selected may or may not relate to that week’s reading but will be related to economics.

This is to gauge your general understanding of the current economic events that take place every day in our lives. It is to force you to think out of the box; broaden your horizon and to do some research besides reviewing your textbook.

Instructions:

Write 1-2 pages on the given topic.

You can include addendums but that will not be considered as a part of the report.

Please use 12 font size.

Topic:

The U.S. economy is about to get an injection of rocket fuel.

Many economists have argued that “this is as good as it gets” for U.S. economic growth. But President Trump’s $1.5 trillion Tax Cuts and Jobs Act could kick economic growth into high gear and give a further boost to the long, strong stock market rally.

Now in the ninth year of an underwhelming recovery, the economy was long held back by an overhang of debt and speed bumps from China to the oil patch. It’s finally hit its stride and seems set to step up its pace in 2018.

“We’ve got a global synchronized boom with low inflation,” said strategist Ed Yardeni, president of Yardeni Research. He called it an ideal “Goldilocks scenario” for investors, with the economy neither too hot or too cold.

If it continues until June 2019, the U.S. economic expansion will break the record 120-month run of the 1991-2001 expansion.

Review the news clip given above then answer the following questions:

If you are an investor, do you think this is the right time for you to invest say hypothetically, $100,000? If yes, why and if no why not?

What will be the impact of this act on employment in the coming years?

As a student of economics, give 5 steps as a “suggestion plan” to sustain economic growth.

The governing board of Middleville hired a consulting company to evaluate its strategic performance, specifically in the areas of Human Resources, Information Technology, Financing, and Marketing. As part of the consultant’s evaluation, several leaders of Middleville’s units were asked their perspective of the organization’s performance.

You are working for the consultant. Your job is to identify the issues from the response that should be considered further by the consultant team and possibly discussed with the governing board and the CEO. The firm has a rule, “Never offer a criticism or negative finding without suggesting how the client organization can correct it,” so you must indicate what sort of

correction you would recommend as part of your list. Because you know there were about two (2) dozen other interviews, you decide you should rank your issues in importance, to make sure the most critical are discussed.

Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:

  1. Explain the governing board’s role in these      strategic initiatives, determining its responsibility and involvement.
  2. Evidence-based management means that operational      and strategic decisions are made based upon the evidence that goals and      objectives are actually being met. Quantitative measurements must be      identified and measured. This data is then used to evaluate the HCO’s      performance. Name three (3) performances Middleville can use to measure      its success in providing quality healthcare to the community, and identify      quantifiable, measureable indicators that can be used to do so. Explain      the importance of each performance measurement.
  3. Given the statistics of Middleville and its two      (2) competitors provided in Table 1, recommend to the HCO what areas it      should focus on to maintain its competitive market share as well as      continue to provide healthcare to the community in the 21st      century.
  4. Some of Middleville’s Board members are very      interested in pursuing advanced technology systems over the next five (5)      years, while others are concerned about the enormous expense and need      assurance that the investment in technology will be worthwhile. In both      monetary and process terms, describe the costs and benefits      associated with implementing EMR and associated health data systems. Lay      out a plan for how various systems can be implemented.
  5. Middleville has faced many challenges in      recruiting and retaining nurses and other clinical employees. The economy      has hit the area very hard and budgetary limitations have reduced the      amount of money available for salary increases. The Board knows it needs      to provide other benefits to their valued employees. Provide at least two      (2) suggestions to Human Resources to promote employee satisfaction and,      therefore, retain experienced personnel.
  6. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this      assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as      quality resources.
  7. Format your assignment according to the following      formatting requirements:

a.     This course requires use of Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different  than other Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS  documentation for details.

b.    Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the  professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the  required page length.

c.     Include a source list. Citations and sources must follow SWS format. The source list  is not included in the required page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Examine how healthcare management concepts and      theories are applied to critical issues in healthcare organizations.

Analyze the critical management issues, purpose, functions, and performance measures of different departments within healthcare organizations.

  • Explain how public policy has shaped the      development of the U.S. healthcare system.
  • Use technology and information resources to      research issues in health services organization management.
  • Write clearly and concisely about health services      organization management using proper writing mechanics.

NOTE: Be sure to read Chapters 11-13& 5-9 in the course textbook and have completed Research Exercises 1 & 2, Assignment 1 as well as reviewing the Weekly Lectures. Be sure to cite your sources as you proceed through the paper and provide a sources list as the last page.

Begin your paper on Page 2 by writing a six to eight page paper (does not include Title or Source pages)

BE SURE TO INCLUDE IN-TEXT CITATIONS THROUGHOUT THE PAPER FOR ALL PARAPHRASED OR QUOTED MATERIALS. USE SWS FORMAT.

4- I am asking everyone to please submit the paper on time in Canvas and please do not email any paper after the deadline. They will not be accepted.

Problem:

Jim owns a music school teaching guitar. The school has a small space and thus any additional teacher adds less to total production (MP is diminishing). Each guitar lesson costs $25/hour. Here is Jim’s Production Function:

                                              Labor                             Q (quantity of lessons)

                                                 0                                  0

                                                 1                                 10

                                                 2                                 17

                                                 3                                  23

                                                 4                                  28

                                                 5                                  32

                                                 6                                  35

                                                 7                                   37

                                                 8                                   38

The daily wage rate for the teachers are: $75 , $100 , $125 , $150 , $175 , and $200.

A) Find Jim’s labor demand schedule (Marginal Revenue Product) for each of the above wages.

B) If the price for guitar lessons goes up to $35/hour, Jim’s demand for Labor will change. Find his new Labor demand at each of the same wage rates above.
